FAlbum and Flickr Photo Album plugins for WordPress

When I started to my other blog powered by WordPress, I wanted to have a section to display my Flickr photos. I decided to use FAlbum plugin.
When I found this plugin, I did not search another . I just tried to install and modify it. And it works. At least, this plugin can give me what I wanted. You can see the working demo at my blog photo gallery section.
Of course, this plugin is not the only solution. There is another plugin called Flickr Photo Album for WordPress. Both plugins are similar. I haven’t dug deeper to compare those two plugins, to find which plugin does better job.

Akismet 2.1.2

Akismet 2.1.2 Screenshot
New version of Akismet (blog spam filter plugin) for WordPress was released few days ago. This updated plugin will filter comment spams by their types. The word “types” here means comments and trackbacks.
If you want to use this latest plugin, just download it right away. Since I have some other -powered blog to maintain, I think I’ll their plugin. It’s easy, and I believe that it’s better to have updated . :)
Added later: There’s another plugin update. It’s 2.1.3 now. I have upgraded Akismet for some WordPress-powered blogs. Let’s see how it goes. Thanks Deny for the info.

Those sites keep me busy!

sites raise everyday — well, not everyday actually — but there are many (too many!) there. I joined some like LinkedIn, Facebook, and Friendster. When I had my friends invited me, I ignored most invitations. Sorry. It does not mean that I do not appreciate — or do not want to be connected — but, it’s more about me.
I only have 24 hours a day. Doing my works. Having my “real” social-life. And, I have a not-too-friendly access. Opening those social networking sites take time. What made it even worst is that I have to deal and spend my time checking the messages, friend requests, bulletin boards, applications.. you name them! When I joined those , the first thing came up on my mind was that I want to connect with I really know. Not just for a competition to have as many contacts as possible. There are some pending requests, messages, applications, etc. I just leave them. Most of them because I do not even know the people there. “Someone wants to be connected, but I don’t even know him/her”. So, what for?

MyBlogLog and Yahoo! ID Integration? Easy!

MyBlogLog and Yahoo! ID Integration
Few days ago, I mentioned about problem on integrating MyBlogLog and Yahoo! ID. I expected that the problem would be solved by MyBlogLog team as soon as possible. But hey, Ian Kennedy Product Manager — came here and gave a note he would investigate the problem. Thank you, Ian!
When he notified that the problem had been solved. I tried it again. The problem’s solved. Sweet! If you want to know more detail about the what the integration is all about, visit MyBlogLog Help Page: Migrating to Yahoo! IDs. It’s all there. I just realized that I registered to this service more than a year ago… :D

Flickr Stats for Flickr Pro Account Holder

Flickr introduces a new feature called Flickr Stats. (hat tip Yan Arief) This is only available for Pro holder. I can not have this feature for my account since I am still use the free version. Anyone want to upgrade my account? :)
To gain the statistics, you need to activate this feature first from your account panel. After doing that, just wait for a moment — it takes about 24 hours for Flickr to generate your stats. Once it’s activated you will get more statistics for you , please note that:

  • Your own views of your own photos are not counted
  • Views and referrers when a page on flickr.com is loaded
  • It will not count views of your photos on external sites e.g. photos loaded from your blog.

WordPress Yahoo! Shortcuts Plugin for Super Blog Post

Team and Crowd Favorite released a plugin called Yahoo! Shortcuts for WordPress. What is it? According to its definition:

Yahoo! Shortcuts for WordPress plugin intelligently enriches your blog post with great content from Yahoo! , Finance, and beyond.

Even it’s still in beta , after I tried this plugin, I found that this is a very useful plugin. Especially I want to enrich my post with more useful information without spending too much time to find references. If you go to Yahoo! Shortcuts page, you will see some demos on how the plugin will work in your post. Look at the sidebar. In short this plugin will do these things:
Yahoo! Shortcuts: Shortcuts Found

  • Detect your post to find relevant information automagically — I think it’s by keywords — that can be found using Yahoo! . For example: maps/location, products, company information, profile, , etc.
  • This plugin will generate some shortcut alternatives. Later, you will have options to deal with those shortcuts. In you entry editing screen, you will see a box containing information about how many shortcuts found in your entry.
  • If you decide to create shortcuts to Yahoo! services, just click on the “ this Post” button. By doing this action, you will be brought to another editing screen.

Fawnt: High Quality Font Collection

Choosing right fonts during the process — in some cases — can be tiring. The reasons may vary like lack of collections, too many similar types, etc. Having numerous fonts installed probably a good thing. But, for some , it’s probably frustrating having too many fonts. I myself do not have many fonts installed. I just install some fonts I considered as nice fonts. If I need certain fonts, I install them.
But, where to find good font collections? Here is one of the resources. It’s called Fawnt. The described Fawnt as a font resource for designers, developers, and anyone that appreciates the web’s highest quality fonts.
Fawnt Logo
You can find thousands of fonts there. To save your time, you can start from top rated font page. Not your favorite? No problem. You can also browse by letters, or by category. Simple! So, what’s your favorite font?

Problem on MyBlogLog and Yahoo! ID Integration

If you use MyBlogLog to display visitor avatar in your blog, you probably have heard that your can be merged with your ID. Right, because MyBlogLog is part of Yahoo! company. For some reason, I removed MyBlogLog feature in my blog few weeks ago.
Because it seems that it’s easy to merge accounts (MyBlogLog and Yahoo! ID), I gave it a try. When I tried to complete the last step, I got an . It says that there is something wrong with the SQL syntax. I have contacted them about this issue. Hope they can solve this problem.
