Kecap Bango Light

Ketika melihat kemasan tertulis cukup besar BANGO LIGHT.

Android N is… Nougat

I think more people think that Android N will have Nutella as its new name. But, recently Android announced that the official name for Android N is Android Nougat.

Wait, Nougat? I personally not familar with this. According to Wikipedia:

Nougat is a family of confections made with sugar or honey, roasted nuts (almonds, walnuts, pistachios, hazelnuts, and macadamia nuts are common), whipped egg whites, and sometimes chopped candied fruit. The consistency of nougat is chewy, and it is used in a variety of candy bars and chocolates. The word nougat comes from Occitan pan nogat (pronounced [ˈpa nuˈɣat]), seemingly from Latin panis nucatus ‘nut bread’ (the late colloquial Latin adjective nucatum means ‘nutted’ or ‘nutty’).

Why I Pick Telegram as My Primary Messaging Platform?

Last year, I mentioned that I used Telegram and I enjoyed it. Been using for more than a year, I feel that it’s much better than the other messaging platforms. Well, I’m not using that many platforms to connect with other friends or colleagues if I consider the other options like LINE, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, and many more. But, why Telegram?

Since I do not experience all messaging apps, I know that some other apps might be better. For now, I’m still considering that Telegram is the perfect option (for me) for some reasons.

Cross-platform and Multiple Sessions

Currently, I have multiple devices I use on my daily basis. Well, not really daily, but I usually switch between devices. I have 15-inch MacBook Pro Retina, iPhone 5, iPad 3rd generation, and Oppo Find 7. I have Telegram installed in those devices. It makes me stay connected. I can easily be in the conversation with friends, and especially colleagues. It’s flexibility to have multiple active session is my favorite!

Features

Telegram offers great set of handy features. Go to Telegram’s website for complete features, but here are some of favorite features:

  • File sharing made easy. I can share various types of files, not only photos, videos, but also PDFs, Android packages (yes, I use this a lot at work), spreadsheets, or any other document types.
  • API. It can be integrated easily to make useful tools. I will give some examples in the bottom part of this article.

Simple, fast, and lightweight

I like it’s simplicity. It helps me a lot in communication. I feel that it’s fast, a core feature that a messaging app needs. Of course, there are some extended features like stickers — even we can make our own stickers, bots (hello, @BotFather), event animated GIF.

Bots

It’s a Telegram account and operated by machine.

Bots are simply Telegram accounts operated by software — not people — and they’ll often have AI features. They can do anything — teach, play, search, broadcast, remind, connect, integrate with other services, or even pass commands to the Internet of Things.

The other one is an inline bots.

With the new inline mode, bots become omnipresent and can be used as a tool in any of your chats, groups or channels – it doesn’t matter, whether the bot is a member or not. Inline bots can help you with dozens of different tasks, like quickly sending relevant GIFs, pictures from the Web, YouTube videos, Wikipedia articles, etc.

At work, some of my colleagues made some handy tools based on this platforms.

Panama Papers: Apa Itu?

Pengalaman pertama terbang bersama Citilink (Jakarta-Jogjakarta)

Will Soekarno-Hatta (CGK) be on the top 10 busiest airports?

It might be.

Got the tweet from Daniel Giovanni (@qronoz), and I spent my time exploring the statistics at Wikipedia about World’s busiest airports by passenger traffic. Some interesting numbers there. According to the statistics in 2011, Soekarno-Hatta was ranked as the 12th busiest airport (by passanger traffic) in the world after Hong Kong International Airport and Denver International Airport. It’s bussier than John F. Kennedy International Airport and Singapore Changi Airport.
Untitled
Still according to Wikipedia, “a passenger” is described as:

“someone who arrives in, departs from, or transfers through the airport on a given day”.

Seeing from the figure, I think Soekarno-Hatta might be on the top 10 list in 2012. Or, probably in 2013. Of course, there are some other factors involved, but let’s look closer on some facts about Soekarno-Hatta airport:

  • Soekarno-Hatta began to operate in 1985. The current operator is PT Angkasa Pura II, anyway.
  • Currently, there are 3 terminals (Terminal 1, Terminal 2, and Terminal 3). According to the plan, Terminal 4 will be build in 2013. In total, there are 45 gates.
  • By passenger traffic, here are some statistics:
    • In 2008, it was ranked number 36
    • In 2009, it was ranked number 22
    • In 2010, it was ranked number 16
    • In 2011, it was ranked number 12 (19.3% change from the previous year, with the total passengers of 52,446,618). Compared to the other 29 airports on the list, Soekarno-Hatta had the biggest growth followed by Atatürk International Airport of Turkey (16.3%)

So, what do you think about the statistics in 2012?

Gravity Photo Upload Error: XL Problem?

I have been using Gravity for more than a year and so far, I find that this is the best Twitter client for Symbian. I have it installed on my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic and N8. Using Gravity, it’s easy to share photos directly to some photo sharing providers like Twitpic, yfrog, img.ly, or even Flickr. Sound good? Yes.
But, it’s only when your mobile internet provider works without any issues. Until today, I only use two mobile internet service: Telkomsel and XL Axiata. Using Telkomsel, I almost found no problems. Everything is working. Well, not 100% great, but it’s still acceptable. Right now, I use XL internet service. I just want to try its service. Both offer the similar price for its data plan. XL has more offers when purchasing the mobile internet package.

The problem is — again, this is related to Gravity application — everytime I upload a photo, I always got Error: HTTP 401. Telkomsel didn’t give this kind of error. So, is it an issue from XL’s side? Maybe.
Wikipedia says:

401 Unauthorized
Similar to 403 Forbidden, but specifically for use when authentication is possible but has failed or not yet been provided. The response must include a WWW-Authenticate header field containing a challenge applicable to the requested resource. See Basic access authentication and Digest access authentication.

Not good.
When I tweeted this problem, my friend Andrayogi also shared a same experience. So far, I’m happy with the internet performance by XL. Yes, I have been using XL service for almost 10 years. And this is the first time I use its ‘unlimited’ data plan. If this problem remains unsolved, I think I will be switching back to Telkomsel.

About Nokia Tune

I just knew that Nokia tune was composed in 1902. This tune — also called Grande Valse — is a phrase from a composition for solo guitar, Gran Vals, by the Spanish classical guitarist and composer Francisco Tárrega. And, it’s estimated that this Nokia tune is heard 1.8 billion times per day, about 20,000 times per second. [Reference: Nokia tune on Wikipedia]

250 Million People Are using Facebook (July 2009)

Mark Zuckerberg (Wikipedia profile) announced that Facebook has more than 250 million users around the globe. It’s almost the same with the country population. According to a report, Facebook had 200 million users in last April. I’m amazed to see the growth.
This is how “250 million users” in a world map. (click to enlarge, or watch the video)

Why no emoticons in this site?

I am not a fan of emoticon. But, I am fine if I see smilies used in websites, blogs, or discussion forums. Nowadays, smilies/emoticons are widely used by many web applications, etc; and I have to confest that I do not know each of them, do you?
Okey, what’s emoticon anyway? According to Wikipedia:

an emoticon is a symbol or combination of symbols used to convey emotional content in written or message form.

To be more spesific, current web applications have a built-in emoticon feature. For example, if you’re using WordPress, we can manage how smilies should be presented: only symbols or converted them into graphics/icons. There are some reasons why I do not use emoticons in this site.

  • I do not want to display text, images and any other important message and I presented many icons at the same time.
  • Smiley symbols are enough to represent emotional content.
  • I do not want to give symbols that’s hard to understand. Okey, I think it’s more about me who does not know much about smiley symbols.

This is — of course — more about my personal preferences. I am fine with emoticons at other sites/blogs. But, if there is an option not to use the icons, I will choose not to see that. For example, if we registered at a discussion forum, we can have options on how smiley symbols should be treated.
