Let's talk about NOKN: A smart modular bag

I couldn’t remember how many bags I had. I was not so picky about the design, colors, or models. I only need some common criteria: it’s functional, and its price should be good. I don’t mind spending more cash on bags (or any other fashion items) as long as it’s good and it fits me.
Last year, I discovered NOKNbag. It’s a business by some cool guys in my hometown, Jogjakarta. One of them is my junior high school friend who I haven’t met for years. He  shared about NOKNbag products. I have to admit that it was cool. But, I decided not buying it right away. “Well, may be later…”, I thought. In some occasions, I saw more people having this kind of bag. And, I had a chance to experience this bag, to meet this bag in person. And, it only took me seconds to decide: I need to have one.
And, I didn’t buy one. Not two, but also bought  special vouchers (worth around 50% off) for all friends at work. We invaded NOKN’s studio — it’s not far from the my office — to do a live mix-and-match. These are some items we bought back in 2013.
NOKN
The collection has only simple name: NOKNbag v2.1. And, it’s only a single product, but each element can be purchased separately. Some color options are also available. This is my configurations (I don’t always have them at once, anyway):

  • One Metal Gun body color
  • 3 flaps (red, blue, and white)
  • 1 shoulder pad (Metal Gun)
  • Inside Partition (Grey)
  • Laptop case (Grey). I can bring my 15″ MacBook Pro Retina Display!

Some customers mentioned that they could bring lots of stuff in it. And, they’re right. When I need to do a short trip (2-3 days) to Jakarta for example, I only bring one bag that contains these following items: 15″ MacBook Pro (with its MagSafe), iPad (with charger), iPhone, 3 t-shirts, 2 skirts, 2 shirts, small towel, and some stationaries.
It’s  my primary (and daily) bag. It’s my companion for work, or business trip.

Videoblog. Again.

With my friend, I decided to create a new videoblog. Previously, I had one at orangebox.tv, but since I was busy and almost had no time to maintain it, I left the domain expired. Now, it has a new domain name, with a new concept. I will not talk about technology or other geeky stuff. If you like technology, you should visit Webicara, Notsogeeky, or Macindos.TV. Our new videoblog will focus on daily life.
Right now, almost all videos take Jakarta as the object. But, for me personally, I see many interesting stuff here in Jakarta — I’ve been staying in this city for almost three months. Last month, we went to Kalibata and Pasar Minggu. Not only to have durian, but also witnessing another area in Jakarta, at night. Not really at night, but can I say early in the morning?
What makes this videoblog different — from my previos one — is that I do it with a partner. He’s a good friend of mine since high school. The other important thing is that we share a same concept and understanding. It makes the videoblogging process easier. We do this videoblog mostly on weekend since we’re both working.
Anyway, the videoblog is using dadio.tv as its domain name. And we put our videos on YouTube. What does it mean? It might be meaningless in English, or in Indonesian language. But, you understand Javanese language, you’ll get the meaning. Yeah, it’s not a television, anyway. :D Okey, there are already some videos to watch. We have some videos on the stock about Betawi culture, food and also train (the economy class!).

I think I like the concept behind new Automattic’s website. The products and descriptions are haiku-powered. This is how they explain about WordPress.com service:

Busy days, lightning and grid

This months, I have some works to do. That made me a little bit busy. I have a pending project right now, well.. actually, it’s my friend’s part to do the work. But, I hope we can finish it right away — this week. Last week, I also made some designs for a client. I have sent two designs, and now I just wait for him to give me the remarks. Anyway, I will use WordPress here.
Orangescale.NET (grid: design concept #2)
When I struggled with my works, I got a problem with the internet connection. My internet provider’s tower was hit by lightning. Ouch! The electricity problems made the situation worse. Seriously. So, because I do not have internet connection for a while, I decided to make some changes on this weblog. This time, I want to go further on the detail. As a grid-lover, I want to display the grid better than before. Of course, it’s not the best… but, I’m satisfied. You should be able to see the “grid” there. About inspirations, I have many great designers inspired me like Khoi Vinh and Jeff Croft. And, let’s not forget about Design By Grid website (last year was archived in this site).
Anyway, if you want to know about grid, Khoi Vinh’s article is a good place to start. Hey, don’t forget to read Yeeaahh.subtraction.com too.
About my Flickr photo, I display a random photo also in this blog. Where is it? It’s on the top. You will see a random photo there.
Back to work.

Quoted and plugged

Just quoted from what I saw, I read, and I feel.

  • I say, “I do not like target="_blank"
  • Benny Chandra’s Refresh.
  • Go to Web Page Analyzer, and put http://jkt1.detik.com/index.htm … Now, I know what the browsers should load.
  • Nien is back, and Thara too!
  • Learning CSS by Asterisk* (Got the link via Avianto)
  • Face the RTFM. It is up to you to have Fvcking, Funny, and/or Favourite. It is good not only for your health, but others’ too.
  • When I type this, WDCREEZZ.COM has 515 members.
  • We (Avianto, Iamal and I) talked about this sentence in bahasa Indonesia, “Mayat itu mengaku.“. Yes, we talked about Bahasa Indonesia last night. If “mengaku” means “confess / making a confession”, it will be so scary. (Heeee… saya mayat loh)

Was: Hari Anak Nasional

Yesterday, July 23rd, 2003 (all? not all I think) Indonesian children celebrated Hari Anak Nasional. TV stations broadcasted many news about this. Govt’s concepts and plans for kids, coming actions, etc. Once, I found a fact about children’s education. And that’s a true story.
Education has become hot issues for years. I still remember the “Wajib Belajar 9 Tahun”, “Aku Anak Sekolah”, “Bebas Tiga Buta”, etc. What about the street children, getting money by begging or becoming street musicians? Ten thousand rupiah will be enough for food, yeah, at least for meal. School uniforms, books, stationary are quite expensive. Are school uniforms so necessary?
Few days ago, I got a counter argument (from TV news) for that question. By wearing school uniforms, there will be no differences who is rich and poor. All the same, equal. And by having the same uniform, the students will have more solidarity, having the concept of equality.
But that will be different when time to wear new school uniforms comes. There will be new and old school uniforms. And I’m sure jealousy is there. Well, too complicated huh? Hehehe.. I’m not an educational expert. Happy National Children’s day! How did you celebrate it what you’re a child?
