iPhone 7 Plus Sample Photos
iPhone 7 Plus Sample Photos (from the Titans-Vikings Game) by Sports Illustrated. Since I had my first iPhone — it was iPhone 4, I upgraded to iPhone 5. The recent iPhone 7 Plus offers a great features for the camera.
After I lost my OPPO R819 few months ago, I finally decided to get another Android phone. And, I went with OPPO Find 7. Compared to other manifacturers, OPPO does not offer more frequent updates on its firmware. OPPO has its own operating system called ColorOS. Running on ColorOS, I have no problems, everything just running well.
The latest stable ColorOS for OPPO Find 7 is version 2.0.8i Kitkat. There are of course a way to get the other custom ROM developments like CyanogenMod, Nameless, or AOSP. Finally, few days ago, OPPO released its Lolipop-based ColorOS (V2.1.1i Beta) for Find 7/7a. Some basic features can be seen from the preview video below.
The detailed information on the release can be found at OPPO Community Forum thread. Previously, I had my Find 7 rooted and customized. In the discussion forum thread, there are some users reporting about the successful installation, and some file bugs. I finally took the risk to install the new distribution — and I chose to do a fresh install with these simple steps. It means, I erased everything in my phone with a new setup.
- Download the package. It’s recommended to refer to this forum thread for the latest updates. The file is around 954 MB. Transfer the installation on the root directory to my phone.
- I backup the files (especially photos) to my MacBook.
- Turn off the phone.
- Turn on the phone by pressing Power and Volume Up buttons until the logo appears to enter the recovery mode.
- Follow the wizard, select “Wipe data and cache” option, click “Yes” to confirm.
- Choose “Install from sd”, and navigate to the directory root. You should see the downloaded package there. On my installation, the file name is
X9006&X9076ColorOS_V2.1.1i_Beta_full.zip
.
- Once the installation process completed, your phone will be rebooted. It takes time to boot. If the installation is successful, you will be greeted by some basic setup processes. Just follow the instructions.
- Done.
I like the new look. There are some bugs — of course since this is a beta release — but I can live with them so far. According to the release, the updates will be also available OTA, which is good.
There are some new improvements and features offered in this release. One of them is the camera plugins which I like. I take photos a lot, and the camera-related functionalities are not easy to resist. It’s now time to install more Android applications and make some setting customizations.
- Mendukung dual SIM
- Ukuran layar 5 inchi
- Sistem operasi: Windows Phone 8.1 (Lumia Denim)
As a person who loves to photography, I think Snapjoy is an answer to some problems. What is Snapjoy? It’s a service that will help you organize your photos. The word ‘organize’ here is about putting photos you’ve uploaded to multiple services in one place, and organize them. Anyway, I like its name: ‘snap’ and ‘joy’.
There are a lot of tools and services that deals with photos. There are many ways to take photos (digital cameras and mobile devies), and to share photos (you can name services that put photos as their primary contents). But, there are problems:
- It takes time to have them organised in one place. I like having my photos uploaded to Flickr. I like sharing photos using Instagram. Some of you might also live to have your photos stored to Google Picasa. Some photos go to one service, and the others go to another services. They’re all might be distributed.
- Not all services are integrated one another. If I upload a my photo to Instagram, I can directly upload it to Flickr for example. But, I don’t this for some reasons.
- Backup, and backup. Photos are memories. I want to keep it safe. Having them stored in a hardrive is great, but if you have lots of photos, it takes more effort to have them organised and backed up. Yes, there is a service like Backupify that will help you backup your photos from Flickr to storage service. It’s an option.
Having valuable contents backed up and distributed in multiple locations is a good scenario. But, having all of them organised is another thing to think about.
Snapjoy answers some of these problems. By having an account at Snapjoy — it’s free –, you will be able to import (well, I think it can be defined as “backup” too) all you photos from multiple services. Currently, you can import your Instagram, Flickr, and Google Picasa photos. The process is easy. Connect your Snapjoy to those services, and hit the import button.
I tried to import my Instagram photos and it took less than 5 minutes to have around 500 Instagram photos transfered to Snapjoy. And, a new “Instagram” album is created automatically. All your photos will be stored by Snapjoy (and it utilises Amazon Simple Storage Service). So, you have the copy of all photos somewhere else.
The good thing is that Snapjoy will also help you organize them. I personally like the way Snapjoy display the photo archive. There are few things that can be done to have it better like keeping the photo information (It seems that photo tags are not imported).
After you have your photos managed by Snapjoy, you can enjoy some other features offered. I like the its “Remember When…”. Basically, it’s just shuffling photos in the collection. It might be easy to recognise photos taken last week, or last month. But, if you want to challenge your memory, try to recognise photo taken three or four years ago.
All imported photos are stored privately by default. You can later share them with friends. Interesting to see its upcoming social features.
It’s a free service now, and I think it will not be free forever. There are some technical costs that have to paid. But, as long as it offers people who love to keep their valuable memories something that they really need, I think people will be. Well, I don’t mind paying for a good service/product. I know that Snapjoy will improve its service. I personally would like to have these features:
- Options to export all photos to other backup service. If it’s a paid feature, I don’t mind. So, Snapjoy will be the “bridge” between service. It’s already a bridge, but making connection to another service is also cool.
- Keep the photo information during the import.
- Keep the original photo size. I’m not sure which photos imported when it has multiple sizes. Having the original photos imported should be great.
Anyway, this service is not only about importing. You can also upload your photos directly there. You can upload from the web, or using and desktop uploader called “Shoebox“. My Flickr photo import is still processing. Let’s see the results later.
BlackBerry Torch 9860 Sample Photos
I have been using this BlackBerry Torch 9860 (also known as Monza) for about 2 months. So far, I’m enjoying it even I don’t use all BlackBerry features. Well, I only use features like BlackBerry Messenger, email, internet browser, social networking applications, and of course… camera!
I will not write the whole technical specifications. You can go to GSM Arena, and read the details. About the camera, it’s equipped with 5 MP. I have to say that the photo quality is not bad at all. When I look at photos taken using BlackBerry, I usually didn’t expect much on the quality. On this Monza, I’m really impressed. It’s really good.
Here are some photos taken using BlackBerry Torch 9860. All photos are directly uploaded to Flickr without any extra editing processes.
Nokia N9 Sample Photos
I love photography.
After using some different cameras (DSLR and phone camera), I think this year I spend more time using mobile phone, not the DSLR. Sometime, I almost forgot that I still have Canon 450D. After having Nokia N9 in my hands, I wanted to test its camera features, just like what I did with my previous Nokia N8.
Nokia N9 does not have the best camera specifications compared to other mobile phone products (with camera). But, for a mobile photography, the photo quality is pretty good. Let’s look at Nokia N9 camera specifications:
- 8 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics
- Wide-angle lens, true 16:9 imaging
- Large lens aperture F2.2 for better and faster photos in low light conditions
- Dual LED flash
- Digital shutter, continuous autofocus, touch-to-focus and exposure lock
- Focal length: 3.77mm / 28mm, F number/Aperture: F2.2
- Still images file format: JPEG/EXIF/XMP
- Digital zoom up to 4x for still images and video
Now, let’s see how some photos taken using Nokia N9. These photos are not edited at all. Nokia N9 has also a simple photo editor to crop, rotate, brightness, and contrast, etc. I only captured some photos, and send to Flickr directly from the phone using built-in upload to Flickr feature.
My Nokia N9: Personal Review
I have been using Nokia N9 for about a week, and I would like to share a bit more about this phone. In my previous post, I posted about the unboxing photos. In short, I think this phone works for me and I’m comfortable with the features, speed, and more importantly to keep myself ‘connected’ to the internet world.
The design
When I opened the box, it was like love at the first sight. I got the black Nokia N9. I think Nokia N9 has a beautiful product design. Here’s why.
I have been using some Nokia phone in the last few years with various phone designs. My first Nokia phone was Nokia 3110. That’s right, that big phone. After that, I switched to Nokia 5510, Nokia 3230, Nokia N78, and Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. I also tried Nokia E72 (with the QWERTY keyboard). The latest Nokia phone I have is Nokia N8 which I’m using right now.
Lots of phone companies put their efforts creating products that are not only about the technical aspects like hardware specifications, but also the design. “This [put the product name] is beautiful!” is a very common expression. And I think Nokia N9 got this expression.
Large screen is another features. Lots of phones has bigger screen these days. But still, people will use their hand to operate. I like phone with big screen, but not too big. I was not sure whether Nokia N9 has ‘big enough’ or ‘too big’ screen area. Can I hold and work with it only with my right hand? It’s taller than Nokia N9, and iPhone 4.
Can I reach whole screen area using my thumb? I can. For me, this is something important.
I look at the design, and I could not find any buttons at the front. I’ve heard that it’s all about ‘swipe’. The only buttons/keys are only on the right side: volume/zoom and power/lock keys. It took few minutes to explore how the swipes work. And, it’s not difficult at all. It’s easy. I will write about swiping on Nokia N9 later.
About the SIM card, I need to have the micro SIM card. There are two options: buying it from my desired provider, or make it by cutting the regular SIM card. I went with the second option.
If you read this blog, or meet me in person, you probably know me as Flickr fan. Yes, among services owned by Yahoo!, Flickr is one of my favorite. I have friends who love to use Flickr and also bring some people to Flickr. So far, they’re enjoying it. Well, at least I heard some positive feedbacks from them. Some friends also bought/renewed their Flickr Pro account and they asked me to buy them Flickr gifts.
But, it’s 2011 now. Many photography-related services flourish. To refresh your memories, let’s take a look at 500px, Instagram, or picplz for example. And, I’m sure more to come to the game.
I asked myself recently: How do I use Flickr? Is it as photo sharing, or simply as a photo storage service? You can find out a bit about how I use Flickr by watching a short presentation during Yahoo! Community Town Hall few months ago. With many other options to share photos these days (again, mind the word “share”) here, I feel that Flickr is more photo storage for me. I do actively share and upload photos to Flickr. But, it’s not only about having photos uploaded there. It’s also about social web interaction.
The magic feature: Share to Flickr
Look at some applications/services that put photos as its primary contents. Many of them has “Share to Flickr” feature. Photos are shared to Flickr directly. Easily. But, where the discussion takes place? Is it on Flickr? May be not.
The way people enjoy photos
A simple question: how do you enjoy Flickr photos? There are some ways: visiting the website from the desktop, from Flickr mobile version, or using mobile applications. Even I have Flickr for iPhone, I rarely enjoying the photostream. I feel that it’s not something I’m enjoying. Try to fire up your Flickr for iPhone apps, and experience yourself. If you have your photos delivered to many services e.g. Instagram, Twitpic, and Flickr, I am sure Flickr is not the first site you (or your friends) will visit. Except you make your photos exclusively uploaded to Flickr and share the links to social networks.
It does not seem that simple though. For example: If I share a photo from Flickr to Twitter, Twitter will display the image right away. Some Twitter applications are smart enough to display the shared links as photo thumbnails and photos with bigger dimension. Will they visit Flickr — and exploring my photostream? Probably. But, I think most of them won’t.
I might sound selfish here by expecting other people to explore my photos. But, you know what I’m talking about here, right?
Shoot, share, and interact
People take photos using many devices, from simple to advanced tools. Using mobile phone or expensive DSLR cameras with fancy lenses. And, to upload the photos, there are some ways too: send directly from mobile devices, by email, or using another social network services and put Flickr as the last destination. Some people still love doing the traditional way: transfer the photo from memory card to laptop/computer, and upload them manually. I still do this sometime.
Again, what happen when the photos are stored to Flickr? Is it easy to interact with the photos? Of course, it’s easy. But, is it super easy? People might to go to Flickr for some reasons: they want to browse their photos or their friends’, or because some photos are made exclusively available at Flickr. Look at White House for example, or NASA. Or, because special event photos are displayed there at Flickr. People will go there. I will go there. But, for personal collection, or just simply “because I don’t want to loose these” photos, Flickr might be a great place to store them. When I need it, I will go there.
This is challenging. It might be a big challenge for Flickr and many other services out there. Innovations and strategies are designed to answer this kind of need. Some services come with an idea and unique approaches. So does Flickr, I think.
I might be wrong here, but from a personal perspective — as a Flickr user — I feel like using Flickr as photo storage service now. Something Flickr does not expect.
Instagram got its popularity these days. It’s exclussively available only for Phone, iPad, and iPod touch users. Just to remind you, Instagram got its 150,000,000 photos uploaded to the service last August. Also, Klout made Instagram as one of the Klout score factors.
There are some similar services offer what Instagram offers, for example Streamzoo, Shnap and picplz. They might not exactly the same, but they share some similar features. I use Instagram as my primary mobile photography activity. I’m still using Flickr anyway and even Instagram — picplz has this feature too — offers direct upload to Flickr, I decided not to use it.
As I said earlier, I use Instagram. I’ve tried picplz too. You probably love the way how you edit your photos using filters provided by Instagram, or picplz. picplz offers some filters and I think they’re great. I want to show you some picplz filters in action here. And, these are some basic information about technical condition:
- Taken using iPhone 4 (using iOS 5)
- I use picplz (Version 1.7.1) for iPhone
In this following photos (with filters), I use a photo taken using iPhone 4 camera without any image editing. Here’s the original photo.
Before sending a photo to picplz, you can manipulate it with some filters like “Russian Toy Camera”, “The 70s”, “Little Plastic Lens”, “High Contrast Monochrome”, and more. When I tested, there are 17 different filters. Most of them are just another filter variations, by having “border” and “no border” filters. Of course, you can send your photos edited by external photo editing applications on your phone and send it to picplz.
I only did some basic actions:
- Import photo from Camera Roll to picplz
- Apply a filter
- Send it directly to picplz (and to Flickr so that I can embed it to this article)
- Photos sent in “Highest quality” setting
Now, take your time to see picplz photo filters. This article has some pages so that you don’t need to upload all photos in one page. Just use the navigation at the bottom of the article.
iTunes 10.5, iCloud, and iOS 5
I’m waiting for iOS 5! It should be arrived today and I can’t wait to download it. When I watched Apple Special Event (October 2011) last week, there were many information about iOS features that I want to have. It is said that there are more than 200 new features in this release.
From the video, you can see some icons there about the top features. It will have Notification Center, iMessage (chat between iOS users), Newsstand, Reminders, Twitter deep intergration, Camera improvement, Photos , Game Center, Safari, and also PC Free.
And, if you want get the most from the release, you should check your iTunes. The latest version of iTunes (Version 10.5) is already available now. It will also support iTunes in the Cloud.
What’s new?
- iTunes in the Cloud. iTunes now stores your music and TV purchases in iCloud and makes them available on your devices anywhere, any time, at no additional cost.
- Automatic Downloads. Purchase music from any device or computer and automatically download a copy to your Mac and iOS devices.
- Download Previous Purchases. Download your past music, TV, app, and book purchases again, at no additional cost. Previous purchases may be unavailable if they are no longer on the iTunes Store.
- Sync with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5.
- Wi-Fi Syncing. Automatically sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes any time they’re both on the same Wi-Fi network.
I’m happy with my Nokia N8. For photo and video features, I don’t use many advanced techniques. And, I have some videos published at Dadio.TV using Nokia N8, so far I’m happy with the result. You can see more than 700 photos I took using Nokia N8 at Flickr.
If you want to see an example of creative and advanced technique using Nokia N8, you should see Gulp. It’s the world’s largest stop-motion animation shot on a Nokia N8. Here’s the final video:
So, what is Gulp?
‘Gulp’ is a short film created by Sumo Science at Aardman, depicting a fisherman going about his daily catch. Shot on location at Pendine Beach in South Wales, every frame of this stop-motion animation was shot using a Nokia N8, with its 12 megapixel camera and Carl Zeiss optics. The film has broken a world record for the ‘largest stop-motion animation set’, with the largest scene stretching over 11,000 square feet.
There are some details on the production process at Nseries blog. These photos (and beind the scene videos) from the production must be watched.
Serabi Solo
Last few weeks ago, I went to my relative’s house in Karanganyar. I had a chance to visit Solo City for about two hours before leaving this city to Jogjakarta. Wihout any plans, I stopped at Klewer Market (one of the biggest traditional markets in Solo City) and tried Serabi Solo. Solo is famous for its Serabi Notosuman, anyway.
While enjoying this serabi, I took some photos and create a short video episode for my videoblog. It was unplanned, but I decided to do it fast. I was thinking of having myself talking for few seconds in this video. I was lucky to have my relative with me. So, I asked him to hold the camera and directed him to hold and use my camera phone. The result is not super perfect, but I think it’s good enough.
Earth Hour 2011, Jakarta
Yesterday, I joined Earth Hour 2011 at Bunderan Hotel Indonesia, Jakarta. Took some photos and will publish a video episode about this event. Met lots of people. About the event itself, I think I’ll write about it later. In the meantime, enjoy some photos from my camera phone. Video will be published at Dadio.TV :)
